A Notice to Our Patients:
In our continued efforts to prepare for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and to protect our patients and healthcare workers, we will be implementing new entrance screening procedures for patients and visitors. At this time, our clinics have not had any patients test positive for COVID-19. We are taking these proactive measures in an abundance of caution to do what is best for all those we care for.
Effective March 16th, 2020, to limit the spread of infectious disease, patients will be asked questions, to understand if they are experiencing any symptoms such as fever, cough or shortness of breath. We will be checking temperatures of all visitors at both clinic locations prior to entry.
We wanted to give a few points of information:
- Horizon Internal Medicine is able to do the COVID-19 testing through LabCorp if a patient meets the CDC testing criteria. If there is a concern that a patient has COVID-19 infection, we will come out to the patient’s car for the visit. There will be a designated area in front of the building for this purpose.
- At this time, we encourage patients to keep wellness visits and regular office visits. We want to keep you healthy with any chronic health concerns you may have. If a patient feels more comfortable waiting in his or her car until the exam room is available, we have a protocol put in place where the patient can “check-in” by calling into the office once in the office parking lot. When an exam room is available, we will call the patient to come into the office. This will allow the patient to avoid waiting in the waiting room for the appointment. We are doing high levels of exam room cleaning between each patient.
- If you need an office visit for being sick, the more information you can give when you call the office to make an appointment, the better we will know how to triage you. We will be taking everyone’s temperature upon office entry.
- Our policies and recommendations may change as more information is known. We will send updates via email and social media as needed.
- Please practice social distancing. Social distancing is crucial for preventing the spread of contagious illnesses such as COVID-19.
We will continue to provide updates as we receive them.
